Shortline railways are an important part of Manitoba’s transportation system.

Operating and maintaining railways is extremely capital intensive. There exist limited public funds available geared towards shortlines. KAP brought up this issue with the Minister of Infrastructure highlighting the need for increased funding for shortlines.
