A recent decision by Health Canada’s Pest Management Regulatory Agency deregistered Lambda-cyhalothrin for use on feed grains beginning April 2023.
KAP will continue to work with relevant stakeholders on this issue and advocate that changes be made to the PMRA decision and we will provide updates to Manitoba producers as they become available.
A recent decision by Health Canada’s Pest Management Regulatory Agency deregistered Lambda-cyhalothrin for use on feed grains beginning April 2023. Lambda-cyhalothrin is the primary ingredient in common insecticide products such as Matador and Silencer.
While products containing Lambda-cyhalothrin may still be for sale in Manitoba, farmers are advised that they should not be used on crops that could be used for feed, including canola, and cereal crops like wheat and barley. A list of alternatives to Lambda-cyhalothrin can be found here.
