KAP is working in partnership with Manitoba Canola Growers Association, Canola Council of Canada, and Canadian Canola Growers Association to ensure governments are prioritizing open and predictable market access for Manitoba farmers.
In September of 2024, China’s Ministry of Commerce announced that it will initiate an anti-dumping investigation into canola seed imports from Canada. This investigation is part of China’s response to Canada’s decision to impose tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles, steel, and aluminum.
China is a very important market for Manitoba farmers. China has demonstrated that they value our high-quality canola, which Canada is the largest producer of in the world.
Maintaining open and predictable market access for canola is a top priority for KAP and our partner organizations to avoid unpredictability in access to important markets.
We will continue to monitor the situation and work with provincial and national partners, including Manitoba Canola Growers Association, Canadian Canola Growers Association, and Canola Council of Canada.
