On March 4, 2025, the federal government applied a 25 percent tariff on certain U.S. imports. Soon after, the federal government announced its intent to apply another 25 percent on U.S. imports valuing $125 billion. The government sought feedback from stakeholders regarding retaliatory tariffs.

KAP closely reviewed the list of retaliatory tariffs given the amount of farm related products listed. Our recommendation to exempt fertilizer, bees, feed ingredients, seed, and farm machinery was based on available domestic or non-U.S. alternatives.
